How to Reset and Renew for 2023!

Welcome to 2023! Here at Liliway, we hope you had a joyful holiday season filled with family, beautiful memories, delicious food and drinks, and love.

Each new year is an opportunity to reset, reinvigorate, and reinspire. It’s a chance to start fresh and evaluate your habits. A crucial part of every new beginning is a release of the past. To start fresh, it is important to cleanse and detox from everything that had been holding you back.

NUTRITION

The joyful, delicious food we’ve all been eating during the holidays can leave you feeling a bit sluggish. This is normal, and it’s more than okay to indulge and enjoy! Starting the new year on the right track will help you start 2023 energized and ready to achieve all those goals that you’ve set for yourself. It doesn’t have to be complicated: fill your plate with colorful leafy vegetables, organic grains, fresh fruits, yummy proteins. Limiting the intake of processed and refined foods will help your body reset and reenergize. Your body––and skin!–– will thank you!

To aid with detox, we recommend the Peekay’s Total Detox Drops. Adding some of these drops (generally two teaspoons per day) into your hot tea or water, or even taking them as a shot, helps support the body’s natural detox processes. It helps restore liver, kidney, bowel, and lymphatic functions. A lower dose helps for daily function and maintenance; after a time of overindulgence, like the holiday season, a slightly higher dose provides much-needed extra support.

It releases those delicious happy hormones that leave you feeling refreshed all day! In 2023, Liliana will be collaborating with Sharon at Pineapple Yogi Retreats. Pineapple hosts virtual and in-person vinyasa classes in addition to their retreats––a great way to help you stretch, strengthen, and ease back into your body. Yoga is proven to increase flexibility, muscle tone, energy, and respiration; it aids metabolism, improves your cardiovascular and circulatory health, and detoxes your body from the inside out. It also helps prevent injury. Even the most advanced athletes use yoga to support their bodies. And nothing feels better than starting your day with 30 minutes of easeful, cleansing movement.

To supplement a yoga practice, we also recommend experimenting with breathwork as a way to naturally detoxify your body. To practice, find a comfortable place to sit. Take a deep, cleansing breath in through your nose. Imagine the air filling your whole body. Hold the breath for a moment or two, then slowly release the air through your mouth, releasing with it any tension in your body and mind. A few rounds of this deep breathing will leave you feeling cleansed, calm, and rejuvenated.

Intention Setting

The body and the mind are deeply interconnected. This new year, focusing on cleansing your mind is as important as cleansing your body. Consider taking this time to do some reflective journaling. On one page, write a list of the things that have held you back or been detrimental to your mental and physical wellbeing in 2022: habits, people, beliefs, thought patterns, routines. On another page, list the things that have served you this past year, that have supported and energized you. From these two lists, take a few moments to consider what you hope to prioritize in the next year, and what you hope to release. Are there people who it might be better to spend less time with? Is it worth setting a time limit on certain social media apps? Did you find a new exercise class that is worth prioritizing and attending more? Might it be helpful to implement a short daily meditation or gratitude practice? What needs to change so you can recenter and live your most healthy, happy life?
